Planning approved in Bradford on Avon

We’re delighted to have secured planning permission for a new extension in Bradford on Avon. Wiltshire Council’s officers recognised that the proposals would bring a positive enhancement to the setting of the Bradford on Avon Conservation Area, creating a more cohesive and integrated form of development.

Another planning approval secured — and another thoughtful transformation ready to move forward.

A big thank you to our work experience students!

It’s been great having our recent work experience students in the studio over the summer. Their energy, enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck into the world of architecture has been brilliant to see.

We hope they’ve enjoyed their time with us, and wish them the best of luck with their studies as they head back to The Corsham School and Hardenhuish School — we look forward to seeing where their interests take them in the future!

Contemporary extensions approved for a converted rural barn

Planning permission has been granted for a pair of carefully considered single-storey extensions to a former agricultural barn in the rural hamlet of Forest, near Melksham.

The approval is another example of how thoughtful, contemporary additions can enhance the functionality of a rural conversion while respecting the character and history of the original agricultural building.

Planning submitted!

We've just submitted a new timber clad extension to a Wiltshire farm, which will provide a delightful new family space. Fingers crossed for a positive (and timely) decision from Wiltshire Council!

We're underway!

Construction is now underway in Corsham for extensions and alterations to a beautiful Victorian villa. We're all very excited to see this project moving on site and bringing new life to a characterful historic home.

A very productive week

Planning approved!

Some brilliant news through from Wiltshire Council that a new-build home in the Cotswold National Landscape AONB has just been approved. Congratulations to our (very patient!) clients, and we'll be starting our technical information shortly as we approach construction.

Recent updates

It’s fantastic to see this extension emerging, carefully stitching together the original farmhouse with its neighbouring outbuildings. Rather than competing with the existing buildings, the new intervention helps reconnect them, creating a series of spaces that feel as though they’ve always belonged together.

Honest materials, simple forms and considered detailing allow old and new to sit comfortably side by side. There’s plenty of work still to be done, but we can’t wait to see the next stage. Many thanks @sage_developments_ltd - keep going!

One of Aaron’s rather nice sectional models, helping us to explore spaces, forms and volumes on a rather exciting new build house on a sloped site.

These will be some pretty impressive spaces!

A big moment on site: the steels have arrived on this project — and there’s something about seeing the crane swing into action that always lifts the spirits!

After plenty of work behind the scenes, it’s great to see the structure beginning to take shape and the project moving into its next phase. A big thank you to the @l.paynedevelopmentsltd , @cleggassociates and fabricator for their diligence, coordination and hard work in getting us to this point. These moments are a real team effort.

Now for the satisfying bit… getting them into position and letting the carpentry begin.

We love specifying materials that not only look beautiful on day one, but continue to improve with age.

For this project, we’ve chosen @vasterntimber Brimstone® Ash, a thermally modified British hardwood that combines beautiful grain and texture with long-term durability and stability. By using heat rather than chemical treatments, it offers a low-maintenance cladding that’s built to last, and will allow the scheme to age gracefully into its context.

And it’s sourced from British woodlands, supporting local supply chains while reducing the need for imported timber.

Wonderfully hypnotic.

Some beautiful choices from our client for this glorious bathroom fit out - these Irish Connemara marble tiles are exquisite. Each and every one is a statement.

Some lovely work-in-progress shots as this new home near Bath starts to take shape.

With the recent heatwaves, there’s been plenty of discussion about designing buildings that stay comfortable all year round. We believe that starts with the fundamentals: designing in high levels of insulation, natural ventilation and thoughtful shading, all working together to create spaces that feel great to live in, whatever the weather. Not only will they keep the spaces cool when it’s hot outside, but also warm in winter too.

This project is no exception, and it’s exciting to see it all coming together.

We’re thrilled to have secured planning permission for three new homes at Goosegreen Farm, a beautiful site centred around a Grade II listed farmhouse near Bristol.

The proposals replace modern farm buildings with a carefully designed courtyard development that respects the site’s historic character while delivering high-quality contemporary homes, enhanced landscaping and meaningful ecological improvements.
