Uganda Schools Design Guide

A Guide to Planning and Building Secondary Schools in Uganda

Uganda, 2011

This Design Guide was co-authored by Matthew Clay and Ben Slee, and written for The Richard Feilden Foundation in association with Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. It aims to give the reader / user an understanding of the issues that are surrounding the design of a secondary school in Uganda, and to raise awareness of some of the key areas that will influence the design, implementation and realisation of any schools project that is being considered from an early stage.

Through the experience that the Richard Feilden Foundation has gained from designing and overseeing a number of different projects in Uganda and other African countries, this document aims to help organisations / individuals who are trying to start similar building projects.

As with all such documents it will remain relevant for a relatively short period of time but educational and building practices change. If you have any comments on the contents please contact The Richard Feilden Foundation who will endeavour to bring the publication up to date as circumstances change.
