Matthew Clay

Director

BA(Hons) DipArch(Dist) RIBA ARB

Matthew established the practice in 2012 after working for several years at other award-winning architects including Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios in Bath, Hodder Associates in Manchester, Pringle Richards and Sharratt Architects in London. A RIBA Conservation Registrant, he has worked on heritage projects for Grade II* and Grade II properties across Bath and the wider region, and has undertaken many other projects for a wide range of domestic clients, from large bespoke one-off houses to medium- and small-scale residential refurbishments and extensions.

Matthew also has a passionate interest in designs for development projects for schools in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as other countries in Asia for several NGOs. Matt has organised and led field trips to many of these locations for student-led research projects as part of his close links with the Universities of Bath and Oxford Brookes, where he has lectured and tutored on their Degree courses.

Matthew has co-authored the ‘Uganda Schools Design Guide’ to try and encourage better design in community-based schools in rural Uganda, and raise awareness of sustainable and environmental concerns in the NGO sector working in educational development.
