Little Sands
A contemporary replacement build in a 1990s cul-de-sac
Wiltshire, 2025

Little Sands upgrades a tired 1990s property into a contemporary new home that responds carefully to its suburban context. Located in a small cul-de-sac in Yatton Keynell, the project demonstrates how a replacement dwelling can bring clarity, light, and modern character to a site, while still sitting comfortably alongside its neighbours.
The design prioritises a sense of openness and connection, both inside and out. Large glazed openings frame views onto the garden, while the internal layout has been re-worked to create a generous flow of living spaces suited to modern family life. Materials were selected for their warmth and longevity, creating a home that feels both refined and welcoming.
Collaboration was central to the project’s success. Working closely with Giraffe Engineering and Clements Building Contractors, the practice delivered a carefully detailed home that balances ambition with buildability. The result is a distinctive yet understated house that enhances its setting and provides its owners with a light-filled, lasting home.
